Our entry-level vermicast grade — coarse, chunky, and perfect for plants that love aerated, free-draining soil.
About This Product
Standard Grade Vermicast is the coarsest fraction in our graded range, sieved to retain particles larger than 850 microns. The chunky texture creates natural air pockets and drainage channels in your soil mix, making it ideal for plants that are sensitive to waterlogging and root compaction.
Because it is the coarsest fraction, Standard Grade is produced in the smallest quantity per harvest — so stock is limited. Each batch is sieved fresh from our Brunei worm bin and packed to order.
Recommended Uses
- General terrarium and vivarium substrate — use as a nutrient layer beneath your hardscape
- Moss wall clay — blend with calcium bentonite and charcoal for a living moss wall mud
- Bioactive vivarium floor substrate — supports springtail and isopod colonies
- Worm tea brewing — medium particles brew excellent microbial tea
- General potting mix amendment for tropical houseplants
How To Use
- Terrarium substrate: use as a 1–2cm nutrient layer, or blend 1 part Select into 4 parts substrate mix
- Moss wall clay: blend 1 part Select Grade with 3 parts calcium bentonite, 1 part charcoal powder, and 1 part coco coir — add water slowly to a peanut butter consistency
- Worm tea: place 50–100ml in a mesh brew bag, steep in 5L of dechlorinated water for 24–48 hours with an air pump
What is Worm Casting?
Worm Casting — also known as Vermicast — is the end product of organic matter broken down by earthworms. Unlike conventional compost, worm casting is processed through the worm's digestive system, producing a fine, nutrient-dense material that is immediately bioavailable to plants.
Worm casting is naturally rich in beneficial microorganisms, humic acids, and plant-available nutrients including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and calcium. It improves soil structure, water retention, and microbial diversity without the risk of burning roots — making it one of the safest and most effective organic soil amendments available.
Garden Aquaria worm casting is produced right here in Brunei Darussalam, fed entirely on plant trimmings and terrestrial plant matter from our own growing operations. Each batch is harvested by hand, air-dried, and precision-sieved to produce five distinct grades — each optimised for a specific application.
